Urgent but not life-threatening

  • 111 — NHS (urgent medical help and advice)

  • In England, you can access urgent mental health support via NHS 111 (mental health option)

Police (non-emergency)

  • 101 — Police non-emergency (crime not happening now, enquiries, anti-social behaviour)

Mental health & emotional support

  • Samaritans — 116 123 (24/7, free)

  • If you need urgent help for your mental health: NHS guidance is to use 999 in an emergency, or NHS 111 / local urgent mental health services for urgent support

Children & safeguarding

  • NSPCC Helpline — 0808 800 5000 (if you’re worried about a child)

  • Childline — 0800 1111 (for anyone under 19)

Domestic abuse support
